Travel Guide: 10 Things to Pack for Vacation
So, I went to the Dominican Republic last month (see: Places to Visit: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic) and even though I brought a ginormous suitcase I did an amazing job packing for this trip! Have you ever went somewhere and felt like you didn’t have enough outfit options? Or you had to wash while on vacation because you ran out of clothes? Yea, that’s the worst and that’s why I’m glad that I’ve mastered packing. Surprisingly my big heavy duty suitcase weighed the same amount as my aunt’s compact suitcase. *inserts evil laugh*
What you’ll need to pack will depend on where you’re going, what you will be doing, and who you’re with. Yes, who you’re with. A trip with dad and grandma will warrant a different outfit selection than a trip with the girls typically lol.
Here’s a list of things to pack for vacation:
Pack a bathing suit for each day (if you plan to swim/go to beach) - even if you think you won’t swim everyday you really can’t go wrong with packing a bathing suit for each day. You may end up doing an excursion, or you may want to do the beach in the morning and the pool at night. It’s nice to have multiple options handy!
A portable charger - when you have a long travel journey you’ll want to make sure your phone is charged at all times, especially when leaving the resort. Having a portable charger provides great peace of mind!
Pack multiple clothing options - this means pack jeans, a jacket, shorts, dresses etc. You never know when the weather is going to do a complete 360 on you, and you also want to be comfortable. Jackets and jeans are great for rainy weather. Shorts are also great to have as loungewear inside your room, or as a bathing suit cover up. Having options is KEY. When packing I always like to think of what I will be doing on vacay. I like to pack things to wear for: a night out on the town, dinner, excursions, the beach, airport trip, and maybe a miscellaneous outfit just to have.
Always pack a pair of sneakers - even if you plan to be in sandals the whole trip. You never know when you’ll need closed toe shoes!
A passport holder (for international travel) - passport holders are a life-saver. My holder wraps around my neck and I was somehow able to fit my lipgloss, ID, and passport in. #win
Wet wipes and sanitizer - I personally love wet wipes. I can quickly pull them out to wipe my hands and feel clean. I like them for when I’m on the plane or for when I want to wipe my phone down after a day’s travel. Keeping your hands clean is a great way to prevent getting sick!
A good book to read - pack a book for a long plane ride and for beach days!
A journal - what better time to do some self-reflecting then when on vacation? You may have to sneak away to escape the fam/your friends, but this is a great opportunity to go outdoors and spend some time writing.
A water-proof phone pouch - I was a little skeptical to use my pouch in the pool, but I must say it actually worked! This is great for those pool selfies that you’ll want to take.
Neck pillow and blanket - when traveling I always make sure I have my neck pillow and blanket. It makes the travel time so much more relaxing.
